Yesterday, Bloqwire has reported about UPS’ plan to use blockchain technology to enhance their delivery and logistics. Seems like more real world institutions are following their way. Reports say that Sea ports of Ukraine to use blockchain technologies to build an e-port system.
The ports of Nikolaev, Odessa and Yuzhny use the e-Port 4.0 system, the individual components of which will operate on the basis of blocking technology. The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan said this during a briefing, Nik Vesti reports.
According to the minister, the successful experience of the stevedoring company “Olvia” in the implementation of the electronic control system e-Port will be used throughout the maritime industry of Ukraine . This, Omelyan believes, will make the ports’ activities more transparent and efficient.
“Given the novelty of the idea of developing and implementing the e-Port system, the specifics and complexity of the process of reforming the port industry, we decided to start with a pilot project – to automate the entire operation of one particular port. Such a test platform for the e-Port system was the port of Olbia. And I am glad that joint efforts have produced a very good result , “the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine said.
Omelyan stressed that in the port of Olbia, clearance of cargoes, as well as terms of their processing, was accelerated by 34.4%.
According to him, the department headed by him has been actively engaged in digitalization of the maritime industry and automation of processes in ports for two years already. The Administration of seaports of Ukraine, seaports, state stevedoring companies and OJSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” were involved in the development of the e-Port administration system.
“To increase confidence in operations in the transport industry, we are already testing the transfer of individual components to the technology of blocking. In particular, e-Port 4.0 will make it impossible for counterfeiting or falsification of the corresponding transactions. And by the end of this year e-Port will be transferred to this system, ” Vladimir Omelyan added.
The briefing was also attended by the head of the state enterprise “Stevedore Company Olvia” Ruslan Oleinik and E-Ukraine Chairman Egor Stefanovich.
